Giving Amateur Chefs a Shot at Featuring on the December Specials Menu

This holiday season, we want to instil that sense of coming together as a business — as a community — as a family — with all its cosy goodness, as well as the healthy rivalry that comes with any close gathering of team mates and loved ones.

If you consider yourself something of a Master Chef, it’s time to head to the kitchen and fight for the chance to get your dish on the menu at The Plough at 38. If that’s not you, but you know colleagues, friends or family members that know how to bake or whip together a treat, be sure to share the good news and offer to stand by their side in support as they fight for the crown.

The Plough at 38 is taking your entries to nominate the Best Christmas Side Dish.

What’s in It for the Winner

The winner will be acknowledged for their best Christmas side dish with a feature on The Plough at 38’s December specials, recreated by our high-end chefs after consultation with the winner.

Not only will you enjoy the esteem of your Christmas side dish featured proudly on the specials menu, but you will also win a lunch or dinner for 4 with wine.

All You Need to Know, From Shortlist Through to Finals

People of any skill level are encouraged to apply. The most festive and imaginative entries will get shortlisted to 12, and the shortlisted 12 will get to bring their dish to The Plough at 38 for the November heat (subject to COVID-19 measures and restrictions), where they will be tasted and tested by six esteemed judges, including one guest celebrity.

The best 4, selected by our judges, will then have an hour in the kitchen with our Head Chef, Jan, who will help you prepare your masterpiece and present it for the finals, to determine the ultimate winner.

Drinks and nibbles will be available, the bar will be open, and a supportive guest is welcome to cheer you on and assist in presentation and pep talks.
