On this site in 1279 were two tenement houses gifted to Oseney Abbey by Walter Grant in 1195. Robert Mills rebuilt & registered an Inn here on the 2nd September 1656. This local Hostelry served thirsty travelers, town & gowns people until 1924. Renovated and opened in 2018 this famous building & one of Oxfords oldest watering holes is now serving fantastic food & real ales after nearly a century as a tailor’s.
